Multi-Slice Breathhold Phase-Sensitive Coronary Vessel Wall Imaging at 3T

چکیده
Introduction Black-blood coronary vessel wall imaging is a powerful non-invasive tool for the quantitative assessment of positive arterial remodeling. Although dual-inversionrecovery (DIR) is the current standard for non-invasive coronary vessel wall imaging, optimal lumen-vessel wall contrast is sometimes difficult to obtain and the time-window available for imaging is limited due to the competing requirements between TI (blood signal nulling time), TD (period of minimal myocardial motion), and heart rate. In addition, atherosclerosis is a spatially heterogeneous disease and therefore imaging at multiple anatomical levels of the coronary circulation is mandatory. However, both enhanced volumetric coverage and blood-tissue contrast typically come at the expense of increased scanning time. Phase-sensitive IR (PSIR) has shown to be a valuable tool for enhancing tissue-tissue contrast and for making IR imaging less sensitive to TI. This work extends PS-IR to PS-DIR, and combined with spiral-imaging, multi-slice black-blood coronary vessel wall imaging is enabled in a single breath-hold. Methods Theory: After a DIR pre-pulse (Fig.1), the inversion time TI T ln 0.5 1

Impact of Preparation Phases on Vessel Wall Imaging Using Spiral Image Acquisition at 3 Tesla
Introduction: Coronary vessel wall imaging with MR has the ability to obtain vessel wall thickness and lumen d invasively (1,2,3). Apart from cardiac and respiratory motion, a major challenge of coronary vessel wall imaging is th small thickness (0.5-2mm) and thus the need for high resolution. With the wider spread availability of high field 3T clin higher resolution coronary vessel wall imagin...

PURPOSE Multi-slice ungated double inversion recovery has been proposed as an alternative time-efficient and effective sequence for black-blood carotid imaging. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the comparative repeatability of this multi-contrast sequence with respect to a single slice double inversion recovery prepared gated sequence. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten healthy volunteers and ...
متن کاملImaging the vessel wall in major peripheral arteries using susceptibility-weighted imaging.
PURPOSE To demonstrate a novel contrast mechanism for imaging the vessel wall and vessel wall calcification using susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI). MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighteen subjects were imaged with multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and high-resolution SWI at 3T. The SWI imaging parameters were optimized to allow for the best visualization of the femoral artery lumen and the...
متن کاملDANTE preparation for black-blood coronary wall imaging
Background Double inversion recovery (DIR) pre-pulses combined with ECG gating are often used [1] in black blood imaging. However, the inversion time is often too long. Also, the blood suppression is often insufficient in multi-slice studies. DANTE is a novel black-blood technique that has been shown to maintain SNR and CNR similar to single-slice DIR in ungated carotid artery studies [2] and i...
متن کاملComparison of fast multi-slice and standard segmented techniques for detection of late gadolinium enhancement in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy – a prospective clinical cardiovascular magnetic resonance trial
BACKGROUND Segmented phase-sensitive inversion recovery (PSIR) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) sequences are reference standard for non-invasive evaluation of myocardial fibrosis using late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Several multi-slice LGE sequences have been introduced for faster acquisition in patients with arrhythmia and insufficient breathhold capability. The aim of this study w...
